High Stakes Poker is a cash game poker television program broadcast by the cable television network GSN in the United States. The poker variant played on the show is no limit Texas hold ‘em. The show has completed its 5th season, which began on March 1, 2009 and a sixth season is set to air on February 14th, 2010. It has been confirmed that previous host AJ Benza will not be returning for the sixth season and will be replaced by poker pro Kara Scott. When it first aired, High Stakes Poker was unique among televised poker series because it did not take place in a tournament setting. Instead, the program showed a high stakes ring game. The minimum buy-in to the game is US0000, but players have bought in for as much as 00000, such as Daniel Negreanu in Season 1 and Brad Booth in Season 3. For part of the fourth season, the minimum buy-in was 0000.[6][7] The first episode with the minimum 0000 buy-in was broadcast on November 5, 2007. The minimum cash buy-in for the fifth season increased to 0000 the largest buy-in for an entire run of a television series. Unlike tournament poker, the chips involved represent real money. If a player loses his initial buy-in, that player may rebuy a minimum of 000. In addition, players may use cash instead of casino chips. Cash plays and

  1. great comentary, kaplan is so funny

  2. yeah, dwan is getting a bit snotty

  3. gabe kaplan ftw
    so funny this episode

  4. @griffon651

    3. Next he checked the turn which is unlikely when dwan is usually bluffing.

    4. Then he made a very small bet on the river as if INVITING a reraise.

Again this is what elky probably preceived not what dwan did. Obviously he was playing scared because he thought elky had something. Such as JJ, QQ, KK, AA. Which is exactly what elky was thinking of. So its very reasonable for ely to take time if hes engaging in advanced level thinking.

  5. Ok it was NOT unreasonable for elky to take long to call the bet on the river.

    1. First after the BB was raised 3X dwan reraised to 6X of that bet. Usually for dwan that means he has a hand or he is bluffing.

    2. He made a small bet on the turn which usually indicates strenght in a high level game. Weak can mean weak but weak can easily means strong in high level games. Because they are engaging in reverse reverse psychology.

  6. @ricardo3326 what about texas

Over time you can pick things up that will help in later pots.

To answer your other question, What I would tell basically everyone is to score some free cash from Full Tilt Poker with registration code ACEOFCLUBS
If you do this, they pay new players to make a deposit. So just deposit $60 to your new Full Tilt account, and they will award you an additional $60. The bonus works up to $600! Hope this helps, good luck!.

  9. The bus driver must watch High Stakes Poker

  10. JJ was very possible in that hand.

  11. WTF is wrong with fucking matsow

  12. dwan plays such a wide range elky should of instant called. He was slow rolling dwan. If dwan had the 9 i think he would of tilted on that. If the ace doesnt’ come on the river then it would be different. But you got a boat against dwan higher card next on the board is a 9. Its a instant call if not a raise. If he has the 9 then dwan would probably pay him off to a raise. I think elky should of raised.

  13. 50 k to win 200k against Tom Dwan’s range(you only have to be right about 20% of the time to make profit). It is an instant call. But Tom was still really rude, he really needs to improve his people skills. Then again, most poker players are degenerates:)

  14. Matusow should be shot for folding KQ suited. In a cash game, the only thing you should be thinking about is calling or raising.

  15. WTF IS WRONG WITH MATUSOW…. folded KQ suited preflop to a small raise…. RETIRE PLZ

  16. @Mackattack2294 It’s not standard when dwan made a big raise preflop. Elky called because he was getting 4 to 1 on the river.

  17. Mike be quiet and go home. you dont play poker you sit there waiting for absolute premium hands, so boring to watch and annoying to listen to

  18. I also would like to see Phil Galfond play more

  19. doyle=imhoteb lol

  20. Mike Matasow is an absolute piece of shit jerk. First when he says “that’s how you play poker boys” in a cooler hand, then when he plays like a total knit after winning a bit and leaves early. In many games if you leave early after winning a bunch like that, you will take a beating outside the door. Daniel seems to be holding back from saying anything, but Mike’s little hording move in below low-class. He’s scum.

  21. @doufupanda

he is like 22yrs old, he is bound to make a questionable comment time to time. No big deal.

  22. tom doesn’t know what he says!!

  23. @jhyunahn didnt meant to put AA there and also he’s going to almost always flatting that spot with suited connectors..

  24. that is nowhere near a snapcall.. it’s closer to a fold. only reason elky called was b/c he was getting 4 to 1. Dwan is never bluffing that river + prf squeeze with 3+ players+ tiny flop bet + check turn all indicates this is a value bet. not a bluff. Elky is pretty much hoping that Dwan was way out of line squeezing 3 players with k9s or something.(which is unreasonable really) Most likely range here is TT JJ QQ KK AA. Thats it.. I thought he would fold tbh
It should really be a fold..

  25. mike matusow pos. also, after thinking about it more, really didn’t look like dwan had JJ-KK there.
